Floating Eggxperiment
Sink or Float? Explore this question with an easy household science experiment! Have you ever tried swimming in the sea? Did you notice that you could float more easily in the open waters than when you’re swimming in fresh water or even in a swimming pool? This experiment will help you understand why! Ingredients: Salt, Eggs, Water, 2 Glasses/Jars.
Fill two glasses or jars with water. In one glass mix in about 6 tablespoons of salt. Place one egg in each glass and watch what happens. Which egg sank? Why? The answer is DENSITY! Saltwater is denser than freshwater, meaning there are more particles in the water to act against the egg pushing through. The egg itself is denser than freshwater, but less dense than salt water. What other items can you experiment with? Sink or Float?
